This is an annual award "to the player adjudged to have exhibited the best
type of sportsmanship and gentlemanly conduct combined with a high standard of
playing ability." The winner is selected in a poll by the General Managers of the HBHL at the end of the regular schedule.
History
Lady Byng, wife of the late Canada's Governor-General at the time, presented the Lady
Byng Trophy in 1997. Since her passing, the trophy was renamed the Lady Byng Memorial Trophy.
